Ben-hur emperor's glory achievement - Emperor s Glory - Ben-Hur | XboxAchievements.com

There are some who would say Katherine Ruonala is Australia’s leading prophetic voice, I think we are so much more mature than that.  It seems to me we are substituting entertainment for biblical preaching. What do you think?

We’ve always promised ourselves we would record some extra podcasts. As we’ve caught with the magazine release we thought it was time for such an episode… So we decided to look at the Chariot Race in Ben-Hur.

With Jasper back in the editors chair at Ancient Warfare Magazine he joins regulars Marc DeSantis and Mark McCaffery to discuss Archers in the Ancient World (issue XI.1). Throughout antiquity, the bow played an important role in warfare, from Assyria and Egypt to Greece and Rome. Heavy infantry and cavalry often got the glory, but archers on foot and horseback often played an important role on the battlefield. We fielded a lot of listeners questions, many from patrons of the show who support us via patreon. For more information on how you can help us produce the show go to patreon.com/ancientwarfarepodcast.

One of our Patreon supporters suggested for an "extra" we might look at documentary series, such as Barbarians Rising, and the problems of factual programming falling into the same traps that Hollywood feature films fall into. So after we finished talking about the year of the four Emperors I put the question to the team, curiously Lindsay Powell is actually one of the historians featured in Barbarians Rising. We hope you enjoy the discussion. Angus is joined by Josho Brouwers, Murray Dahm, Mark McCaffery, Marc De Santis and a welcome back to Lindsay Powell.

There are loads of articles on the lunacy of Bill Johnson and his heretics at Bethel church, Redding.  I often wondered how can normal, intelligent people be just stupid when they accept Bill Johnson’s teachings as gospel because when you take a step back from the smoke machines and the theatrical performance what this man says is not only unbiblical but lacks common sense.  It’s a little like the Hans Christian Andersen’s children’s story “The Emperors New Clothes”. So I made a few changes to this insightful fable below.   What prompted this?  This quote by Bill Johnson.

There was a preacher so exceedingly fond of popularity that he spent all his congregation’s money on his image. He cared nothing about visiting his people, spending time alone in prayer, or studding the scriptures. He had a cliché for every hour of the day, and instead of saying, as one might, about any other preacher, “The Preachers board members,” here they always said. “The Preacher in with his publicist.

In the great city where he lived, life was always good. Every day many strangers came to town, and among them one day came two false apostles Bill Johnson and Kris Vallotton. They let it be known they were men of divine encounters, and they said they could share the most intimate secrets from the throne room because they walked in the heavenlies. Not only was their revelation and insights uncommonly fine, but their books had a wonderful way of becoming undecipherable to anyone who was unfit for ministry, or who was unusually stupid.
