Jeaniene frost series reading order a read to live, live to read checklist night huntress series, nig - Jeaniene Frost s Night Huntress Series - Frost Light

One of my all time favorite series (including the awesome “spin-off) – this is a MUST read! A world where vampires, ghouls, ghosts, and shifters exist (in hiding) amongst our own human population! Cat (born half human, half vampire) started off as a vampire hunter, but tangled with the wrong monster. Or should I say, the right one?

Bones showed her the error of her ways, helped her embrace and develop her vampire side, and together, they have been battling evil for six books now. Always exciting, laugh-out-loud funny, emotional, and sometimes downright scary. Each installment provides a new mystery to solve, a new battle to overcome, and another chapter in an intense romance that still gives me butterflies.

It’s not always easy though. Cat and Bones have hit many walls along the way, proving that two very strong-willed, in-love, powerful individuals will sizzle right off your page.

Even with her psychic abilities on the fritz, she returns to America and the carnival sideshow act that she had previously found a home in–protection and love from a vampire that treats her like family. But tragedy strikes soon after she reunites with her friend, and she’s forced to go on the run with Vlad’s right hand man Maximus who was tasked with getting her to the Carnival safe and sound. Complicating matters is Maximus’ romantic feelings for Leila and her uncertain loyalties towards Vlad. As they go on the run to track down the killer, who can Leila trust, not only with her life, but with her heart?

Leila is such a strong, well-rounded character in these novels. She’s sure of what she wants and she’s not willing to settle for less when it comes to her relationship with Vlad. Even though it kills her to do so, she walks away when he’s not willing to outwardly love her back. She absolutely kicks butt in this book, further developing her electrical whip to rip vampire attackers to shreds, and also further honing her psychic abilities to dig into people’s pasts through touching objects.

Vlad grew so much in Twice Tempted . He’d vowed long ago never to love again, but he’d clearly let Leila get to him. Just how much she’s gotten to him, I won’t spoil the book, but he is definitely a different man when he’s with Leila at the end of the book. Otherwise, he’s still the Vlad that I know and love: tyrannical, violent, ruthless, and calculating. You get a close look at his torture methods and dungeon in this installment, and boy, is it bloody and a bit detailed, and quite a good read.
