As readers know, I often use the ancient concept of the two opposite yet harmoniously-working elements of the universe, Yin and Yang, in explaining hokku.  Jia Dao wrote:

Asking the young boy beneath the pine,
He says, “Master is off gathering herbs,
Just someplace  in these mountains —
The clouds are deep — I don’t know where.”

Aren’t these Chinese mountains amazing?  Who would have guessed that such mountains exist anywhere this side of Pandora?  Looking at them, we see the high (Yang) mountains rising into the swirling mist and clouds (Yin).

It is the third largest country in the world in area (after the USSR and Canada). The USA has a very slightly smaller land area. It is the largest country in terms of population (over 1,000 million people), about a quarter of the world's total. For more on the country of China see our Geography index .

China has two of the world's longest rivers (the Yellow River and the Yangzi ); two of the largest deserts (the Gobi and the Taklamakan); the world's highest mountain (Qomolangma Feng - Mt Everest); the vast Qinghai-Tibet plateau and the huge plains of North China. The climate varies from the subtropical south, with a heavy monsoon rainfall, to the arid North-west; in winter the temperature can be -30°C in the North-east, yet 15°C in the far South.

There are over 50 different nationalities living in China. The majority (94 percent) are Han Chinese; the other groups include Tibetans, Mongolians, Uyghurs , Zhuang, Li and Miao whose languages and customs are quite different from those of the Han.

Update 0.13 is bringing the long-awaited third dealer Zhang Feng and the Chinese Main Battle Tanks . These vehicles include:

The Chinese vehicles are, as a whole, well-rounded and without any significant drawbacks. While their guns generally do not have as high damage per shot value as those of the Russian T series, one of their main features is their good steady rate of fire, resulting in relatively high damage per minute values. Although generally not as well armored or as mobile as other Main Battle Tanks of the same tier, they offer balanced gameplay and steady performance.

Originating as a pure copy of the Soviet T-54A, which was imported to and later mass-produced in China in the 1950s to replace the aging Type 58 (an imported T-34), the Type 59 Main Battle Tank gradually evolved into quite a different vehicle. The Tier 3 version features the basic characteristics of the early version – adequate mobility, excellent frontal sloped armor, a sturdy turret and a solid 100mm gun capable of firing AP, HEAT and HE shells.
